The
main function of ladle involved in steel
production is the molten steel transfer
from the melting furnace to the casting
machine.
An
increasing resort in ladle practices
has taken place in the last decades
as a consequence of the improved steel
quality and productivity target: the
ladle is a system which interacts with
the molten steel and as a consequence,
the powders added on top of the steel
into the ladle can act not only as a
simple barrier against heat loss and
oxidation by atmosphere, but can also
interact chemically with the molten
steel (absorbing steel inclusions).
